Technologies / Presentations
1) Needish (http://www.needish.com/)
"Imagine a website where you ? as a buyer ? can easily log
on and use free text to tell what you need and then receive offers
from different vendors"
Presenter: Oskar Hjertonsson, Co-Founder
The idea that started as a solution to the painful online buying
process is today a social community where people can post their needs
and receive help from everyone ? including co-workers, friends,
family, the whole Needish Community and vendors. By sharing their
knowledge on other needs, users can help make the world a more helpful
place.
As they define it, Needish is a simple mix of complex ideas such as
search, social networking and online buying. In one year Needish
completed two investment rounds. In the first, in May 2007, several
angel investors and family-members came on-board, representing a total
of 15% of the total stock. In the second (December 2007), important
Chilean angel investors came up with US$500,000 for 10% of the
company. That same month they obtained the Capital Semilla funds
(US$80,000 approximately).
2) Bligoo (http://www.bligoo.com/)
"Community platform for microniches"
Presenter: Paolo Colonello, Founder & CEO
Bligoo is a Web 2.0 platform that individuals and organizations use to
create and publish content on the Internet. Bligoo users can publish
this content via blogs, online newspapers, or traditional web sites.
We will collectively refer to these various media and content as
"spaces." Users can choose to publish individual blogs or can instead
create online communities that allow other members to create new
content. In this way, Bligoo is similar to other popular blogging
platforms such as Blogger or Wordpress. However, Bligoo is different
in that it automatically creates connections, or links, between the
spaces hosted on the platform. By assigning content tags to all
spaces, Bligoo is able to connect spaces through ideas and interests.
In this way, Bligoo forms a sort of "meta-community" where all of the
individuals and organizations using Bligoo are interconnected
increasing traffic.
3) Zetacorp Networks Ltd. (www.zetacorp.net)
"A marketplace for social networks"
Presenter: Leo Prieto ? Founder
Zetacorp Networks Ltd. is a web development company that maintains a
network of user focused online communities, aimed initially at the
more than 400 million Spanish speakers around the world. Their main
product is Zimio (www.zimio.com), a marketplace for existing social
networks, and itself a global social network of classified ads. On top
of that they currently own and run the most widely read blog in Latin
America , FayerWayer (www.fayerwayer.com), with over 1 million monthly
visitors and a community of 80.000 active users. Zetacorp also owns
Saborizante (www.saborizante.com), a daily agenda of cultural events
in Santiago , soon growing its weekly newsletter to more cities around
the world. All currently have vibrant active communities, with over
1.5 million monthly readers generating 3 million monthly page views.
4) Reactor (www.inventario.cl)
"Web services for non-geeks"
Presenter: Tomas Pollak ? Founder
Reactor is a web development start-up focused on creating services
that help people deal with real day-to-day issues. The company's
latest project is Inventario, a social e-commerce platform designed
for small and medium-sized businesses that allows the latter to create
their own online stores in just a few minutes.
The service takes care of hosting, bandwidth and security,
facilitating clients to focus on what really matters: their business.
Inventario not only makes it easy for companies to make revenue from
online sales, but also offers them a rich cross-reference feedback
platform about their clients' purchasing habits.
Through Inventario, Reactor is beginning to house an ever-growing
portion of the long tail of online stores in Latin America . This
means they are in the process of building a massive product catalog
out of hundreds of stores, which will enable them to create a global
bazaar-like marketplace in which all these small merchants will have
access to a much bigger universe of customers.
5) Meeting (www.meeting.cl)
"Provider of real-time interaction capabilities for web pages"
Presenter: Cristian Sepulveda ? Founder
Meeting.cl is a service that provides real-time interaction
capabilities to any web page with audio, webcam, powerpoint, desktop
sharing and many other tools. Their focus is to improve the online
shopping experience, enabling transparent interaction between a buyer
and a salesperson in real time, improving the conversion rate of
purchases. The communication is both-way so the buyers can interact
with the seller naturally and have a completely natural buying
experience. For developing, Meeting has created an Open Innovation
Lab: an online community with a freemium business model, where people
can interact with each other in many ways like playing games,
organizing webseminars, creating virtual classrooms, or just talking.
6) Gaaper (www.gaaper.cl)
"Joining investors worldwide"
Presenter: Nicolas Orellana - Founder
GAAPER is a web-based investment community focused in Latin American
markets that supports the comparison of mutual funds and stocks in a
collaborative fashion by providing tools and data for its users over a
shared workspace. GAAPER aims to surpass the expectations of users who
have been through portals such as Yahoo and Google Finance, and other
investment networks such as Zeeco, Market Watch, etc. ? as these
services are barely implemented in most Latin American countries.
To accomplish this, GAAPER benefits from its expert knowledge of the
Latin American markets and the distinctive behavior of its investors.
This specialization coupled with the high quality content generation
from the community is the core strategy to conquer large user base.
7) Popego (www.popego.com)
"Creating a more credible web"
Presenter: Emiliano Kargieman - Acting CEO
Popego strives to create a more credible web where you can discover
the real people behind each username, and a more meaningful web that
can adapt its contents to each user's interests.
By mid April the company will be launching the public beta of Popego,
a service that feeds from content spread around the web (pictures,
videos, music, bookmarks, quotes, whishlists, ratings, etc) into a
portable interface that can be embedded in a plethora of widgets for
blogs, forums, mails and websites of any kind. This enables users to
get a glimpse of the real person behind each username.
Popego plans to generate an Interest Profile for each of its users by
processing tags and content integrated into their service. This new
layer of information allows web sites to know their customers better
and personalize their content. The idea behind Popego is simple:
Integrate your digital life in one single place while still using your
favorite services, and let that unified identity be with you anywhere
online.
8) Metrik (www.metrik.cl)
